The Giving Tree [SCM]
by Shel Silverstein Author
Every day the boy would come to the tree to eat her apples, swing from her branches, or slide down her trunk...and the tree was happy. But as the boy grew older he began to want more from the tree, and the tree gave and gave and gave. A beautiful parable of true unselfishness.

I read this with my children at the bookstore the other day. My 7 yr old son picked it out. They both loved this story - it captured their attention from the get-go. Really, it's a very simple & short read. More geared toward the younger 4-6 range, but I think up to age 8 could probably appreciate and enjoy it.
