Man from St. Malo: The Story of Jacques Cartier

Much of this story concerns Jacques Cartier's second voyage in 1535-36 when the French sailors wintered at Stadacona (now Quebec City) and suffered terribly from cold and scurvy and the hostility of the Natives. Completely cut off from France and in constant peril, he managed to save the remnant of his company and to prove himself a superb leader of men and a great explorer.
