The idea is to read a children s book, then do related math activities that are FUN. Funbook A is for primary grades, K-2. There are math activities related to 16 different children s books. The activities cover a wide variety of standards-based math topics. High-gloss covers fold out to reveal two full pages of punchout math manipulatives, and there is an additional double-page of stickers to make learning extra fun for young children. Punchouts and stickers assure that the learning will be active and hands-on. Count and sort cars, use monkeys and frogs in counting rhymes, use squares and triangles to make quilt designs, graph farm animals, make a set of memory cards. Choose activities that are best suited to the age of your child although minimal writing skills are required, most activities require fine-motor skills for cutting, pasting, coloring, or manipulating the stickers and punchouts. Directions for parents and teachers are on the back of each student page. No separate teacher guide is necessary.
