Who's Saying What in Jamestown, Thomas Savage?

It was the first week in January, 1608, when they finally reached Virginia... Thomas squinted so that he would catch the first sight of people at the settlement. He knew that Captain Newport had left 104 men and boys behind when he had sailed back to England. Thomas had often thought of the boys, wondering if he would make friends with them. Thomas could see the fort at one end of the island and a few houses, but no boys. Where was everybody? Why were there no welcoming shouts from the people of Jamestown?
