Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue [SCM]

by Anna Harwell Celenza Author

A living story of how George Gershwin composed, in only five weeks, a concerto that defines "American music." The story-line is filled with time period slang that gives the feel of the 1920s but isn't distracting or offensive. A CD recording of Gershwin's performing his "Rhapsody in Blue" is included.

Amazing Recording

Reviewed by Parent/Teacher

I've heard various performances of Rhapsody in Blue, but the recording included with this book - which gives Gershwin's own performance - is amazing. I never realized how fast he played the piece!
