Hattie Big Sky [SCM]

Sixteen-year-old Hattie leaves Iowa for Montana when she inherits her uncle's homestead claim. The catch is that she has nine months to prove up on it in order to keep it. With the help of friendly neighbors, she braves hard weather, hard times, and hard issues surrounding World War I. Based on experiences from the author's family. Parent Notes: Hattie employs a combination of wishing and praying. Some of her neighbors roll and smoke cigarettes. A few casual and careless uses of the Lord's name are sprinkled throughout.
