Teaching the Classics

by Adam and Missy Andrews Author

Teaching the Classics will teach you how to study literature by focusing on the important elements of literature: literary analysis, style & content, setting, characters, conflict & plot, and theme. This workbook is designed to be used with the Teaching the Classics DVDs (which are sold-separately and are NOT included); this workbook is set up so that students watch the DVD sessions and take notes in the spaces provided. Summaries of each unit, graphic organizers, full text of each story used in the DVD, and discussion notes for each seminar are also included. For teachers, the back of the book includes a lesson plan schedule; usually students are assigned readings with two to three discussions following the reading. These are followed by a writing exercise - various suggestions for the grammar, logic, and rhetoric-levels are provided. A suggested reading list is also included in the back of the book.
