Language Lessons for Your Secondary Child
Reviewed by Parent/Teacher
We have a son that fits in to this category being in the 10th grade. He was not thrilled with my saying he still needs to go Language Lessons even as a Sophomore in high school. He assumed that he was "too old" to have to do something like this still. WRONG! I have found that requiring him to continue to work on his Language skills is still beneficial in areas like spelling, correct grammar usage, and punctuation. Often times, in our experiences over the years, boys get almost "lazy" in their writing as they get older, because they think it is a waste of time to have to put in all those periods, commas, quotation marks, etc., especially when they write anything of length. This has helped alleviate some of this thinking. It is something that they can do as quickly and neatly as they choose, or goof around with and take a lot longer to do. Either way, requiring them to still do Language work is a wonderful idea!
