The Story of Geronimo

by Jim Kjelgaard Author

Geronimo, the Greatest Apache War Chief, had a boyhood like any other, brought up by caring parents in the ways of the Indians who inhabited the Southwest before the white man came. He married the girl he loved, and, they had a family. They were a close family, before tragedy struck, and his wife and children were killed in a raid. Geronimo became a fierce warrior leader, looked up to by the Apaches as a little less than the sun god, whom they worshipped. He was taken prisoner several times, and, managed a clever escape, more than once. One time on a horse "with bullets singing by his ears."
