You probably know the story of the Pilgrims, the first Thanksgiving, and Plymouth Plantation. You most likely have some kind of an idea of the other colonists who arrived after them: the Puritans, the Dutch, William Penn and the Quakers. But for most people, American history then skips 150 years and goes straight to the Revolutionary War. Yet those 150 years of colonial history form an important foundation for the United States that we see around us today.
