The Reagan Diaries [SCM]
by Douglas Brinkley Editor, Ronald Reagan Author
During his two terms as the fortieth president of the United States, Ronald Reagan kept a daily diary in which he recorded, by hand, his innermost thoughts and observations on the extraordinary, the historic, and the routine day-to-day occurrences of his presidency. Now, nearly two decades after he left office, this remarkable record, the only daily presidential diary in American history, is available for the first time. To read these diaries, filled with Reagan's trademark wit, sharp intelligence, and humor, is to gain a unique understanding of one of the most beloved occupants of the Oval Office in our nation's history.

Fascinating Look at Recent History and the Office
Reviewed by Parent/Teacher
Though this book is thick, it is hard to put down. The diary entries are such a great mixture of world events and personal opinion. These daily records provide a fascinating look at what is involved in running this country, as well as a realistic primer into how politics work. Through it all Reagan's character sparkles -- ever the gentleman. Some strong language is included, but never inappropriate remarks and I don't remember ever seeing the Lord's name taken in vain. A glossary is included for those who want a little more background on names and events mentioned in the diaries.
Excellent reading. Highly recommended for modern history.
