This book has lovely pastel illustrations, as you can see from the cover. The illustrator favors the odd point of view that Degas often used in his dancer drawings. My children enjoyed a couple of readings of this and then back to the library, and they haven't asked for it again. The story doesn't merit years of repeated reading, like some of their favorites.
