This is a great book for "living" the events surrounding Mary Queen of Scots; however, I would not recommend that you allow your boys to read it independently. For example, the way the author describes Nicola's thoughts and actions when she takes her first hot bath could cause some mental-purity struggles to a male reader. Of course, if you were to read it aloud together, you could edit as you go.
