"...and as for what are called children's books, the children of educated parents are able to understand history written with literary power, and are not attracted by the twaddle of reading-made-easy little history books." (Home Education, p. 281)
This book has short, choppy sentences and very little detail that sparks the imagination. It may be suitable for an early reading book, but in my opinion it is not a living book from which to learn history.
