Swifter, Higher, Stronger: A Photographic History of the Summer Olympics [SCM]
by Sue Macy Author
As students read about the history of the Summer Olympic Games, they will review key events in world history and see how those events affected others. A couple of sections compel an older reading audience. Mention is made of Greg Louganis, who later in life announced that he was a homosexual. It is simply stated as fact with no interpretive commentary. Chapter 4 touches on controversies that give a picture of modern issues: amateurism, gender testing, drug testing (mentioning some results of steroid use), and politics.
